My loves

Games
They suck you in.  You puff and puff on them, feeling bliss along the way.  Kinda like a smoking addiction, if you ask me.

Books
If games suck you in, books wrap you in.  You won't have withdrawal, but once you're in it, the sun can rise and fall and you won't be aware.  Sure, games does that too but the immersion is on a different level.

The other half.
Games + Books.  Enough said.

What goes through these people's head?
"Hey, I'm a happy go lucky girl.  LOL!"

Some things are just not funny.

Selling oneself

Over the last few years, I got a nagging feeling that my resume is not up to scratch.  Yet, whenever I open up the file, everything looks in order.  "It's functional and detailed", I thought, and filed it away.

Recently, I've been doing some revision on it.  The more I look over, the more I trim.  Stuffs that I used to boast are now laughingly simple to me, and not worthy of mention.  Still, something is amiss; I can't put my finger on it.

After several phone interviews, I had an idea of what I'm lacking.  Date of birth; experience in functional and technical skills; full project cycles; summary of what each job was about; expected salary; summary of skillsets.  I will work on this soon.

NYT: A Catholic Classmate Rethinks His Religion

JW: This is not "safe" for FB consumption, so I'm exercising my right of expression in posting it here.  I found the story of the classmate in his soul search thought provoking, so I'm sharing it here.  This however, is not indicative of my support/or hate against any religions and sexual orientations.
Excerpt:
During our recent correspondence, he said he was sorry for any impression he might have given me in college that he wasn't open to the candid discussions we have now. I corrected him: I owed the apology - for misjudging him.
He grew up in the South, in a setting so homogenous and a family so untroubled that, he said, he had no cause to question his parents' religious convictions, which became his. He said that college gave him cause, starting with me. Sometime during freshman year, he figured out that I was gay, and yet I didn't conform to his prior belief that homosexuals were "deserving of pity for their mental illness." I seemed to him sane and sound.
He said that we talked about this once - I only half recall it - and that the exchange was partly why he remembered me two decades later.
Questioning his church's position on homosexuality made him question more. He read the Bible "front to back and took notes of everything I liked and didn't like," he said.
"There's a lot of wisdom there," he added, "but it's a real mistake not to think about it critically."

Sleeping early

I stopped gaming at 10pm, and fell asleep soon after.
Maybe I should do that more often.  Hmm?

Frustrated with the state of things

This had been in the brew for about 2 years.  You think things can't get any worse, and then fate proves you wrong.
I've never had such a low in my life, yet it's good to have supportive friends and a spouse who argues on your side.  And for a few seconds, you do agree with them.
However, it matters not what the truth is, but what the larger proportion of people believe in.  I believe it is time.  You can't beat them all.
Sometimes the way to advance, is to retreat.

Real steel

A movie I wanted to watch, for Hugh Jackman.  One that I'm wary of, because an actor does not make a movie and the synopsis was screaming, "Lame!"
Got to admit it now, it's fairly good, if you treat it as an underdog-inspiration movie.  The human parts suck, as expected.

Karma

For the record, I don't believe in karma; I believe in retributive justice.
Not that I act it out, but that's what I hope for anything.
Some days, when someone does me wrong, I absorb it and say, "it's on his karma".
That doesn't mean I believe in karma, but in the sanctity of his soul.

Good person? Bad person?

A good person can be a bad person.
A good person can be a bad boss.

Logic debate

Set A has shortcomings doesn't mean set B is true.

Set B has contradictions doesn't mean set A is true.
