ACRES Celebrates World Animal Day

World Animal Day (WAD) is an international event, commemorated each year on the 4th of October, to celebrate life in all its forms. For this year, ACRES will be staging a 2-day carnival themed "Small Changes, Big Differences" right in the heart of town! To bring this theme alive, our brand new educational exhibits at this event will play a role in exemplifying simple ways to lead a more compassionate lifestyle and in encouraging people to commit to these small changes.

World Animal Day 2008
Date: 4th - 5th October 2008 (Saturday and Sunday)
Venue: Outside The Cathay
Time: 11am - 9pm

To make this event a success, WE NEED YOUR HELP!

ACRES is urgently looking for up to 40 volunteers every hour over this carnival period to help us in our educational and fundraising efforts.

Some areas needing help are:
a. Manning the various exhibits
(Bear bile, illegal pet trade, wildlife rescue)
b. Guiding activities (nature trail and cruelty free room)
c. Mascots
d. Donation tins
e. Securing signatures for the "Animals Matter to Me" petition
f. Overnight security on the 3rd and 4th of October 2008
g. Set up and take down of carnival.
h. Preparation for the carnival at ACRES office: folding brochures, preparing donation tins, making new badges

SMALL CHANGE,
BIG DIFFERENCE!
To exemplify this year's theme, spend this week leading up to WAD 2008 collecting small change from your family, friends and colleagues and join us during the carnival in filling up our Column of Hope! Every small step counts!
